How to create a system restore point on your computer

Creating a system restore point is a wonderful function that your computer has to safe guard your software, files and programs that are stored on your hard drives.

Should your computer crash and you loose an important file or piece of software or an important document has been corrupted or your favorite photo has accidentally been deleted from your computer, if you have previously created a system restore point, like magic you can go back in time and retrieve everything that was on your computer the day you created the restore point.

Although there may seem a lot of steps to create a restore point it is very simple to do.  If you follow the steps below you will create your own system restore point in seconds.

The last step is there to show you how to retrieve the restore points you have made, if and when you need them. You can leave the internet on and start creating your system restore point whilst you are on this page, you do not need to minimize this page or do anything as the windows will open on top of this page.

Instructions

Step 2

Look down the list until you come to All Programs and click on All Programs

Step 3

The first pop-up screen will have a list of programs, look for the program called Accessories and hover your mouse over it. It will produce another pop-up window.

Step 4
The second pop-up window

The second pop-up window will have a list of programs, look for Systems Tools and hover over it.

Step 5
The third pop-up window

Step 6
Create a restore point

A new window will have opened up. This is where you will create your system restore point. Click on Create a Restore Point.  Then click the icon that says Next.

Step 7
Name your restore point

It is not imperative that you name a restore point because the computer will automatically add the time and date to your restore point. However if you have put important new files on your computer and you want to remember why you wanted to create a restore point to safe guard these files it is wise to name the restore point with something you will remember.

Step 8
Click create

Click on the Create icon to finish creating your new restore point and then click close. You are all done.

Step 9
Finding a restore point you have created already

To find a restore point that you have already created just follow steps 1- 5 and instead of clicking the Create a restore point click: Restore my computer to an earlier time.

This will bring up any older restore points that you have previously made, choose the one you would like to use.

Tips & Warnings
You can create as many start-up points as you would like. It is best to create a new start-up point after you have run a virus check and you are sure your computer is clean.
System restore points safe guard your files and programs, should anything you need be deleted off your computer by accident. If you have created a restore point you can go back to that day and retrieve it.
System restore points will not save anything created after the date of the restore point you have made, so it is a good idea to regularly create a restore point to safe guard important files and programs or changes you have made.
